Dr Trevor Webb
Dr Trevor Webb has been an Assistant Secretary-General for Quality Assurance in the UGC Secretariat since 2007. His primary responsibility has been to serve as audit co-ordinator for the first three Quality Assurance Council (QAC) quality audits. This has entailed liaison with the institutions, organizing and co-delivering training for the audit panels; giving seminars to institutions on the audit process; and undertaking the arrangements for each audit. The latter has included working with, and supporting, the audit panels; and drafting the QAC audit reports.
Dr Webb is on leave of absence from the University of Aberdeen, where he was Academic Registrar from 1999-2006; and Academic Registrar and Director of Student and Academic Services from 2006 until 2007.
Dr Webb obtained his PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Hull in 1982 before embarking on a career in University administration. He worked for twelve years in two of the University of London Medical Schools before moving to Aberdeen in 1995.
Dr Webb developed a keen interest in quality assurance and quality audit followed the introduction of external academic audit in the UK in 1990. He has played a key institutional role in preparing for three external quality audits and reviews in the UK. A major part of his role at the University of Aberdeen was administrative responsibility for the quality assurance of teaching and learning.
